LoZ2_Boots.jpg
LoZ2_Boots.jpgZelda 2 AoL Boots544 viewsThe winged Boots in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, waiting in its chamber in the Maze Palace.

With these boots, Link can levitate over the waters to reach the Palace on the Sea.

I used the manual scan as reference for the boots, and VGMaps.com (and some artistic license) for reference on the palace setting.

3--Boss_Ironknuckle_of_Island_Palace.pngZelda 2 AoL: Island Palace Guardian Boss Ironknuckle542 viewsThe Boss Ironknuckle, aka Rebonack, who protects the Island Palace.

Get ready for one hell of a jousting match!

Official art was the reference for his design. But the shade of blue was from his in-game sprite.

2--Helmethead_of_Midoro_Palace.pngZelda 2 AoL: Midoro Palace Guardian Helmethead538 viewsHelmethead, the boss of the Midoro Swamp Palace. And he has not just that current head on his shoulders...

I mixed his official art and ingame sprite, with some artistic license, as reference for him.

8--Shadow_Link.png
8--Shadow_Link.pngZelda 2 AoL: Final Challenge Dark Link521 viewsApt title for this--it's the final boss of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, Dark Link (in this incarnation as Link's Shadow).

I used the screen shot as a reference, and added some glowing eyes to make it more evil.

LoZ2_Hammer.jpg
LoZ2_Hammer.jpgZelda 2 AoL Hammer516 viewsThe Hammer of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, inside the caves in Death Mountain.

Link needs this to break those boulders so he can continue.

I used the manual scan as reference for the hammer.

LoZ2_Fairy.jpg
LoZ2_Fairy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Fairy Spell507 viewsLink probably had trouble getting the keys, so he's using the Fairy Spell to get through a door in the Maze Palace, in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Sprites, official art, and screenshots were references (as well as artistic license). See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for why the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

LoZ2_Fire.jpg
LoZ2_Fire.jpgZelda 2 AoL Fire Spell507 viewsLink shooting a fireball from his sword, courtesy of the Fire Spell, learned in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Sprites, screenshots, and official art were references here. See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for reason the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

LoZ2--Wizzar.jpg
LoZ2--Wizzar.jpgZelda 2 AoL Wizzar506 viewsWizzar, the Wizzrobe relative (and disciple of Carock) from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Yes, Wizzar is its official name--I checked it in a Zelda Wiki.

I used a sprite as a character reference, and for the location, I once again used VGMaps (in this case, Maze Island Palace).

LoZ2_Candle.jpg
LoZ2_Candle.jpgZelda 2 AoL Candle502 viewsThe (red) Candle in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, which makes traversing caves MUCH safer.

Here it is in the first palace--Parapa Palace! Crack crack crack the egg into the bowl! (Get it? Oh, never mind.)

Anyway, I used the manual scan as a reference for the candle, and VGMaps.com (with some artistic license) for the palace backdrop.

LoZ2_Magical_Key.jpg
LoZ2_Magical_Key.jpgZelda 2 AoL Magical Key497 viewsIt may not have a lion head, but the Magical Key in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link has the same purpose as the previous game--opening unlimited numbers of doors in Palaces... you'll need this in Three-Eye Rock Palace!

Here it is in New Kasuto Town.

I used the manual scan for reference for the key.

LoZ2_Handy_Glove.jpg
LoZ2_Handy_Glove.jpgZelda 2 AoL Handy Glove496 viewsThe Handy Glove of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, needed to break blocks.

Here it is, lying in Midoro (Swamp) Palace, waiting for Link to put it on.

I used the manual scan (and some artistic license) for the glove, and VGMaps.com (again, along with artistic license) for the palace background.

LoZ2_Raft.jpg
LoZ2_Raft.jpgZelda 2 AoL Raft495 viewsThe Raft in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, waiting in the Island Palace.

You'll need this to get to the other continent and continue the quest for the Triforce of Courage.

I used the instruction manual scan for reference on the raft, and VGMaps.com for reference in the palace... with a little artistic license thrown in.

LoZ2_Shield.jpg
LoZ2_Shield.jpgZelda 2 AoL Shield Spell495 viewsThe Shield Spell from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Link is using it in Parapa Desert to get to the first Palace.

Now, I know that usually there should be the name of the spell here, but I forgot to put it up, and didn't realize it until I completed Jump Spell... by then, it was too late. So the spell artworks in my Zelda 2 stuff won't have the titles within the artworks themselves.

Anyway, as usual, sprites, screenshots, and official art were the references here.

LoZ2--Megmut.jpg
LoZ2--Megmut.jpgZelda 2 AoL Megmut493 viewsThe bouncing armadillo, Megmut. Well, the official art (which I used as a reference) of Megmut looks like an armadillo to me.

Anyway, it's another Zelda 2: Adventure of Link enemy.

LoZ2_Life.jpg
LoZ2_Life.jpgZelda 2 AoL Life Spell491 viewsLink patching up his wounds with the Life Spell in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Sprites, screenshots, and official art were references. See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for why the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

LoZ2SkullWarriorByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2SkullWarriorByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Skull Warrior490 viewsThe Skull Warrior, alias Paratamu, from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Here he is patrolling the Midoro (Swamp) Palace. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Midoro Palace is the Skull Warrior's first debut.

Anyway, I used a sprite as the reference, and I once again show how much I suck at drawing skeletons.

LoZ2FotailByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2FotailByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Fotail488 viewsFotail, the more dangerous of the two "birdbrains" in the Great Palace, the final place to go to in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

I used the ingame sprite as the reference here. The official art (that I found in Zelda Wiki) has him looking like an alien bug. Anyway, here's Fotail.

LoZ2--Myu.jpg
LoZ2--Myu.jpgZelda 2 AoL Myu487 viewsThe spiny slime from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Watch your step.

I used an official art as a reference.

LoZ2_Cross.jpg
LoZ2_Cross.jpgZelda 2 AoL Cross485 viewsThe magical cross in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, lying in Three Eye Rock Palace.

Obtaining this makes the final areas MUCH easier, as it makes those invisible Moas visible!

Anyway, I used the manual scan for reference of the cross, and VGMaps.com (with some artistic licence) for the palace backdrop.

LoZ2SorcererByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2SorcererByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Sorcerer483 viewsMago, the fire flinging sorcerer in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

This is him in the Palace on the Sea, where you'll see him a lot. He's in other palaces, sure, but this seems to be Mago's home base.

I used a sprite, and an official art I found on ZeldaWiki, as references.

LoZ2--Moa_and_friend.jpg
LoZ2--Moa_and_friend.jpgZelda 2 AoL Moa and Girobokku480 viewsThe two ghastly eyes from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link

For Moa, I used an official art as a reference. For Girobokku (exact English name unknown; I'll have to visit the Zelda wiki to know), I used a sprite as a reference.

Anyway, here they are, haunting a graveyard (I know Girobokku appears in the "Valley of Death" near the final palace, but still...). For Moa, have the cross ready--some of them are invisible otherwise!

LoZ2MauAndRaByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2MauAndRaByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Dog and Dragon Heads480 viewsMau (the Dog Head) and Ra (the Dragon Head) in the Maze Palace in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

I learned their names in the Zelda Wiki.

Anyway, the sprites and official art were the references here.

LoZ2--Geldarm.jpg
LoZ2--Geldarm.jpgZelda 2 AoL Geldarm479 viewsThe giant desert centipede frol Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Geldarm.

I used the sprite as a reference. Oh, and between Geldarm and Lowder, I wanted to do an AoL version of Goriya, but forgot--didn't realize it till it was too late. D'oh! Ah, well, you can see Goriya in my Zelda 1 art. Not too much of Goriya changed between the two games.

LoZ2--Tinsuit.jpg
LoZ2--Tinsuit.jpgZelda 2 AoL Tinsuit478 viewsYep! That one hopping enemy in Parapa Palace (in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link)... the one that looks like a dog enemy in armor... it has a name in North America. It's called Tinsuit. So whoever takes care of the bestiary on this site, please note. (In the Bestiary, we only know its Japanese name--WOSU).

Anyway, I used a sprite as a reference for the character. For the Parapa Palace BG, I used VGMaps.com as a reference.
