among_the_dead_1027.jpgAmong the Dead1340 viewsHaven't been around here in a long minute, so here's my latest Zelda piece, Among the Dead. I wanted to do a piece with Link in the graveyard with ghosts. This was the image I had in mind from the cemetery section of Zelda 1. This took me quite a while to draw at first, I couldn't quite get the pose for link right, so I kept trying different poses when I had free time. Once I finally had the pencils, it took me about a week / week and a half, on and off to Photoshop. The ghosts where somewhat difficult at first becuase the pencils for them were very unsubstantial, I pretty much had to paint them in with Photoshop. zelda_gown.jpgZelda at Night1396 viewsOkay, lots of people have been debating about the white line thing. That was fully intentional. However, I drew this a while back, when I didn't know how to make white space transparent. But, now I know. ^^ I do it like this:
1. scan in a drawing.
2. in photoshop, select all and copy.
3. create a new layer, and fill it in black.
4. switch to quick mask mode, and paste into the black layer.
5. switch back to normal mode, and press delete.
All finished!
If I had wanted a cleaner line I could have stroked the outline of the drawing. Ah well. Practice makes perfect, right?
I don't particularly like Zelda, but I do like drawing her. Hopefully she'll be cooler in TP and actually do some of her own fighting... and I hope there's some kind of Malon-esque character in it too!cerasly09/21/05 at 23:13Scipio: The white line surrounding her reminds me of paper...

link_marin.jpgLink + Marin + Egg1186 viewsthis is a scene i think should have been in the game. link doesn't even talk to marin before he makes her and the island disappear. this is the night before he goes to wake the windfish, and he is trying to comfort marin even though they both know she will soon vanish forever, a mere dream. that game really is very sad. ;_;
i painted this today because I was bored out of my mind and sick of doing all my art with the computer. i've wanted to do Link's head at this angle for quite some time. i think it makes him look so sleek. i've been on a link/marin kick latley. in this painting, i didn't want either of their eyes to be showing, it should be more impressionistic. i am quite fond of this, especially Marin's hair. I didn't use any references so please don't harass me about clothing. I wanted to draw Link with all his clothes on, but i was having a horrible time with his shirt, so i decided to leave it out. He is supposed to be in those little white tights he wears, having just finished a swim. yes, i know he doesn't wear them in LA and his hair is different... deal with it. Im still practicing with photoshop, but this one actually took my about as long to do the pencil sketch as it did to color it in photoshop. I know its not absolutely symmetrical, I tried..:) By the end, my hands were hurting pretty bad, so this is it guys! Hope you like it!! I used the hylian symbol from the shield, and tried to copy some of the sheikah symbols from Zeldas shroud in the new TP official art.
